API guide

Addresses, usage and licence duties for the public dictionary interfaces.

The following routes answer GET requests.

• https://vajeh.de/api/v1/search searches words and stored forms.
• https://vajeh.de/api/v1/entry/{lang}/{headword} returns an entry for the specified language and headword.
• https://vajeh.de/api/v1/sentences finds sentence pairs.
• https://vajeh.de/api/v1/suggest completes the start of a headword.
• https://vajeh.de/api/v1/headwords lists headwords.
• https://vajeh.de/api/v1/sources lists sources and licences.
• https://vajeh.de/api/v1/stats returns counts of entries, translations and examples.
• https://vajeh.de/api/v1/forms/de returns the German word list for local text lookup.

API specification

The connection uses Model Context Protocol (MCP). The MCP endpoint has one address: https://vajeh.de/mcp. It accepts POST only and needs no login. Set the client's connection type to http.

The MCP endpoint provides these four tools.

The dictionary data use CC BY-SA 4.0. When you reuse them, credit the sources listed at https://vajeh.de/api/v1/sources.

Sources and licences

Each sentence record carries its own licence; respect it when you reuse the sentence.

The MCP endpoint allows 300 requests per minute per client address.
